CSR Malta Association Commences “Mosaic Magic” Project Promoting Sustainability And Community Engagement

CSR Malta Association is excited to announce the commencement of the European Solidarity Corps project, ‘Mosaic Magic’.  This artistic initiative began on the 1st of June 2023 and will run until the 31st of May 2024. As part of ‘Mosaic Magic’ the dedicated Artistic team, Msida Mosaic has been diligently collecting recyclable materials such as coloured glass, terracotta, chinaware, and tiles which have been contributed by the community.

A key feature related to the project is to instigate the participants’ ecological thinking by creating awareness on the importance of reducing consumption and reusing items.  Thereby sustainability in an art piece such as mosaics evolves and enfolds the sharing trait among the cohort based on stories and views.   In addition to this, shared experiences and knowledge exchange will be focused on the locality’s culture and heritage.  The cohort will practice citizenship skills and achieve a better understanding on the legacy of the Roman era onto the present day.  This will enable the participants to connect with Msida whereby a sense of belongingness and ownership will evolve on the mosaic production.

Youths, minor communities, and the elderly will come together in the cultural space provided by Msida Local Council. Across intergenerational dialogue, a celebration of diversity will be embraced in a socially cohesive setting.

Our talented artistic team will deliver interactive presentations to participants in a socially cohesive setting as well as highlight the projects’ objectives and abide by specific requirements.  After which workshop sessions will be ensured, the artistic team will guide the participants on the tools, supplies, and materials which will be implemented in the process of the art production.  Incorporating the principles and elements of art, the technique used to crush the recyclable materials collected into smaller units will be then assembled into one whole small piece.

Furthermore, inspiration will be drawn from various sources.  Members will then be motivated to tap into their creative and cognitive abilities to contribute towards this project.  This art piece will nurture the participants’ well-being in a nonformal setting.

The climax of Mosaic Magic will gather the mosaic pieces the participants compiled. The artistic team will install this representation as one complete piece on-site specifically in the open spaces of the neighborhood.   With pride, the public’s view will practice dialogic artwork towards the embellishment and the community’s contribution.

CSR Malta Association is thrilled to embark on this journey, and we are grateful for the support of the community and our partners. “Mosaic Magic” represents our unwavering commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and the power of artistic expression.
